Sonny Bill Williams comes to Canterbury from the Toulon club in France. A rugby league star with the Canterbury Bulldogs after joining the club as a 16-year-old, Williams signed with Canterbury rugby and the Crusaders this year. Williams arrived on New Zealand's 15-man scene with a crash, bang and offload to die for. He seemed to scale a steep learning curve with ridiculous ease.
